1. Everest Base camp trek:
Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the whole world. A trek towards Everest Base camp will be so exciting in someone’s life. The journey will start in Kathmandu. From Kathmandu, one can take a little flight to Lukla. Lukla is located in the south part of Kathmandu. From the South part, you need to take the north part of Namche Bazaar. After arriving at the Namche Bazar you need to head towards Periche then Dingboche and Lobuche. From here you need to head towards the east side where you can reach the base camp of Mount Everest. Many people prefer trekking from a village named Jiri which is situated at Lukla. From Kathmandu, you can take a bus to reach Jiri. The distance between Lukla and EBC is 50 kilometres.14 days will be enough to take the taste of this most challenging trek. People who have heart problems, high blood pressure, epilepsy, or asthma need to avoid this high-altitude Everest Base Camp trek.
2. Prashar Lake trek:
Prashar lake is located in Himachal Pradesh, Mandi district. The total lake is surrounded by the mesmerising dhauladhar range. Biaggi village which is the base camp of the trek is located 27 km from Mandi. This trek is also popular for winter treks in India. You will explore snow in the month of December to March. The Prashar lake lies at an altitude of 8900 feet above sea level. A 4.5 to 5 hours walk will take you to the amazing lake. The total distance of this trek is 7.5 kilometres. Direct buses are available from Delhi. A 10 to 11 hours journey from Delhi will take you to Mandi. From Mandi, there are many buses available which will take you to Biaggi village. On the top, you will find Prashar rishi temple and the beautiful lake. You can do this trek any time of the year but if you want to explore snow then you can visit here in January and February. If you have a normal fitness level then you can easily do this trek.
3. Kafni Glacier Trek:
The Kafni Glacier is located in the Bageshwar district, Uttarakhand(Kumaon region). The altitude is 3,853 metres above sea level. Which is the source of the Kafni river. The trek starts at Loharket, a small town in Bageshwar. From Loharket, trekkers need to climb up to Dhakuri pass. From there you will get a wide view of the Himalayan peaks with Nanda Khat and Maiktoli. At least you will discover snow-covered mountains emerge over the glacier. Here you will find a wide variety of flora, fauna and wild animals.
4. Nanda Devi Base Camp, Uttarakhand:
Nanda Devi is the second highest mountain in India. The Nanda Devi is one of the most gorgeous peaks in India. The Nanda Devi National Park is declared a world heritage site by UNESCO but it was closed to both locals and climbers in 1983. It takes around 9 to 12 days to complete this trek. You will experience the biodiversity of this place. The best time to visit here is the months of May to June and September to October.
5. Chadar Trek:
The Chadar trek or Zanskar Gorge trek is one of the most challenging treks in India. It would take around 8 to 9 days to complete this trek. The total altitude is 11,400ft. January to February is the best time to do this trek. In the daytime, the temperature is -10°C to 0°C. The temperature decreases after the sunset it goes down to -25°C. After arriving in Leh you should take a hotel to adapt to the high altitude and also take some rest. During the trek, you will see Tilat Sumdo, a campsite for the trek where you can get a view of the Himalayas. Sintra Koma which is popular for its scenic beauty is 10 km away from here. Visit Tibb-Tibb to see the wonderful waterfall and cave. Nerak-Nerak is an amazing spot for sunset. It is the base camp for this trek.
